I did not know Bill but am so sorry for his family. My prayers would be that he and his family are believers. Prayers for strength for those left behind.

Bill Thrasher and his family moved to the south side of Maple Park Elementary about 1961.  I lived on the north side of Maple Park Elementary.  Bill and his brother Donny (MHS 1967) and me and my brother Steve (MHS 1967) played a lot of basketball, football, and baseball together in pickup games at the school.  All we had to do was call one another and it was game on.  In 1972 I was driving my Pepsi truck when I rolled it on Hwy 99 and 176th St SW because the brakes failed.  Bill was working at the gas station on the SE corner and thought the driver would be dead when he found out it was me.  I saw him again at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe where his son was racing.  The last time I saw Bill was at the Multi-Class Reunion in 2013.  I am happy that Bill was able to pass away at home with family around him.

Bill was one of my best friends. His mom had a lot of foster kids and a huge heart. Bill was like a big brother. It was wonderful to see him at last reunion I went to. Had no idea he was ill. He was big hearted, down to earth guy. Wish I would have known sooner. Please, guys, when you are seriously ill, let us know so we can support you, pray for you and talk about the good ol days. Lets cherish that special connection we are so fortunate to still have and finish our journey as good friends💜

Tony DiPangrazio sent me this email about Bill on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

I first met Bill in the seventh grade at Lynnwood Junior High School.

Bill had been in and out of the hospital several time since February battling with what started out as kidney problems, I’m told he lost fifty pounds in the process.

Recently the doctors told him he had advanced cancer throughout his body and it had reached his liver.

At that time the Doctors also shared with Bill he had about a week to live. Bill asked the Doctors to allow him to go home and they granted his request.

I received a call from Jerry Hause Monday evening advising me of Bill’s condition and he said we could visit with Bill starting on Wednesday/today.

Hospice brought Bill home late yesterday afternoon. Bill’s wife Mary, bless her heart prepared Bill his favorite dinner and his favorite desert.

Bill enjoyed his favorite dinner with Mary and his family and then said he was going to take a nap.

Bill went to sleep and continued to sleep until late this afternoon when Our Lord called him home.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to visit with Bill and his Family today even though I wasn’t able to speak with him.

Jerry Hause was also able to visit with Bill and his Family this afternoon too.

Our Lord was very kind and merciful to Bill, Our Lord took him quickly.

Although I’ll miss Bill and his sense of humor, I’m glad Bill didn’t have to suffer for an extended period of time.

For all those who shed a tear for Bill Thrasher

There is a sacredness in tears.                                                                                                                     They are not a mark of weaness, but of power.                                                                                           They are mesengers of overwhelming grief and of unspeakable love.
