Katy Hummel was a nice person.  Quiet, smart, and pretty,  We exchanged some were nice chats on this website maybe a year ago.   I am so sorry to hear of her passing.

I have been slow about commenting about Katy because we had been exchanging emails on a regular basis.  In December she sent me an email saying "no more emails, I'm in hospice care."  She promised me that her family would contact me when she passed so that I would know, and she was true to her word.  When I was first putting the MHS 1966 website together I found Katy via Facebook in the spring of 2013.  Katy was receiving treatment through the Baylor Medical School, but she didn't think that she would be alive when the Multi-Class Reunion was held.  There was even a time when she was in remission.  Throughout her battle with cancer she always maintained her love of God and was thankful for her many blessings.  Katy and I were able to have a friendship that we couldn't have in high school because we were two red heads that were too shy to talk to each other.  When I was in Texas in October I offered to come and see her but she didn't want me to see her in her condition, but wait until we are both in the hereafter.  I miss our email contact but know that Katy is with her Heavenly Father and is a precious Child of God.

It was the same for me Stan (except for the red hair).  Although we were in a lot of classes together, I don't remember any specific conversations with Katy in high school.  However, thanks to this website and the maturity and confidence that comes with age, we had a really nice interaction about our experiences at MHS.  There are several people from our class that I have talked with much more on this website then I ever did while in high school.

I am very sorry to hear Katy's passing. She was such a pretty girl. I will always remember her as she was in our senior year. May God bless her soul.
