Gary, born January 8, 1948, passed away on July, 29, 2009 on the hottest day of the year. It was 103 that day. Official cause of death was hypertension but I think the heat was a contributing factor since I almost heatstroked that day myself.

Gary volunteered for the draft in 1967, joined the Army and did his basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas, then spent a year in Korea.  He then worked at Boeing in Renton for a year before moving to Tucson, Arizona to attend the University of Arizona.  Soon after that he started to slip into Scitzophrenia and his life was a tragic struggle with it from then on, living much of it in supervised group homes for those with mental disease.  At the time of his death, Gary was sharing a home with three other mentally disabled people with minimal supervision in the Wedgewood neighborhood area of Seattle.  It was heart breaking for the family members and friends that knew of it.   - Guy Axelson -

So sorry to hear of his struggles.  That disease is so difficult to deal with for the one ill and especially the family.  So many disappointments and power struggles.  God rest his soul.  I hope he is at peace.
