Karen, age 57, left this world surrounded by love and was welcomed into the arms of Our Lord on May 7, 2005, after losing her struggle with breast cancer.
Karen was born in Seattle, Washington, on January 22, 1948, to Loyd and Beverly Carlson. She grew up in Lynnwood, Washington, attended Seattle Pacific University, married, and moved to Spokane in 1978. Karen graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1989 and worked for The Guardian Insurance Company for 15 years. Karen remarried in 2001. She had a warm, motherly nature and was a fabulous cook. Her interest in the outdoors and music, and her love of bunny rabbits will always be remembered.
She leaves behind her loving husband, David Wells; her two daughters, Shannon Worthy, of Seattle, and Robin Worthy, of Turlock, California; her mother, Beverly Carlson, of Stanwood, Washington; sisters Judy (David) Nofziger, of Edmonds, Washington, and Donna (Joel) Duprey, of Arvada, Colorado; stepchildren, Matthew, Jonathan, Jason, Sarah, and Andrew Wells; and her niece, Amy, and nephews, Nathan, Benjamin, and Jesse Nofziger. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 14, at Hillyard Baptist Church, 1212 E. Wabash, Spokane.
